Logging Forests and its Effect on the Environment
Over the years logging forests without re-plantation has lead to environmental damage and lower natural production of oxygen. This is primarily due to excessive clearcutting. Coming from BC, Canada I've seen the aftermath of clearcutting first hand.
Clearcutting is when an entire mountain side or forest area is logged dry. This was done predominantly in the previous few decades with little concern for the lasting effects. Today, clearcutting still takes place, although in many countries logging company's are required to plant new trees where they've logged in order to sustain new growth. And with good reason.
The human body requires an excessive amount of oxygen to survive every year. That oxygen is primarily produced by our forests. Even better, the trees take in carbon dioxide gas in order to yield this oxygen. Therefore when a forest is logged without re-plantation, that much more oxygen was not produced; leaving instead an abundance of carbon gas in the Earth's atmosphere.
Therefore, not only do trees make our planet a healthier place to live but reduce the affects of global warming by reducing green house gas's. Return from
